The previous week, our group members composed a presentation on a green cement, including how it's made, properties, sustainability, etc. The material of choice for us was mycelium, which is a mixture of a complex root system of a fungi and agricultural waste. The group then had to orally present our information to the professor and other peers via zoom. An overall takeaway from the project we had was that despite concrete production accounting for 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, there are many new, more sustainable variations of cement that are being tested and developed in hopes of replacing Portland cement.
